I love to do lots of research for my clients and it often inspires me with romantic ideas to share.  This week, I was working on a honeymoon for a couple who wanted a Hawaiian honeymoon that was off the beaten path, not in a touristy area and with a lot of pampering.  One of the islands they decided on was Maui, which can be quite busy and crowded in the Lahaina and Ka’anapali areas.

Knowing what to avoid and striving to meet their needs and desires for their honeymoon, I compared the Makena and Wailea areas for them.  The Wailea hotels are absolutely beautiful, but they are so large that intimacy might be lost.  The Makena Beach & Golf Resort is much smaller in comparison fronting a beautifully stunning white sand cove beach.  The resort has won numerous awards such as Conde Nast Traveler Magazine’s 2014 Readers’ Choice Awards: Top 25 Resorts in Hawaii and 2014 Top 12 Hawaii Hotels for Romance by Travel Agent Magazine.

The sunsets are spectacular from this part of the island, so I definitely recommended an ocean view to them.  The room décor reflects the colors of the sand and sea surrounding the hotel, with beige and gold tones complimented with hues of blue, teal and sage for an overall soothing and tranquil effect; perfect for a relaxing and romantic Maui vacation or honeymoon.

Even with the secluded location, there is a lot to do here at the Makena.  If a couples desires to spend their time in the water there are two pools to choose from, a hot tub and of course that beautiful Pacific Ocean.  Golf, tennis and spa are all options and there is a daily list of complimentary activities; from archaeological tours through the property to live Polynesian dance performances.  Star gazing beside a cosy fire on Monday evenings is also offered. S’mores anyone?  Also; ocean side yoga, lei making, bike rides and Ukulele lessons.

There are no private beaches in Hawaii, but the Maluaka Beach is well hidden by the resort.  There is a private feel to it.  Sometimes referred to as “Turtle Town” this beach and offshore coral reef is a haven for turtles.  As the waters are loaded with tropical fish and often turtles, it’s also a haven for snorkelers.

This couple was really excited by the romantic perks I was able to include for them at the Makena Beach & Golf Resort; things that are hard to find anywhere else.  I was able to arrange a private dinner the two of them, gazing at the sunset from their ocean side cabana.   They will be served four courses by their attentive butler; enjoying such delicacies as Molokai Potato Fried Lobster and Filet Mignon with Butter Poached Prawns.  Tiki torches will be lit before them, adding to the romantic ambiance.  They will feel like they have the sunset all to themselves.  On another day, they will embark on a traditional Hawaiian outrigger canoe, which sounded like a lot of fun to this couple.  Added to all of this will be a daily buffet breakfast overlooking koi ponds and Japanese gardens.

Sound like paradise?  Let me arrange your own tropical, romantic getaway in Paradise.  Air fare is amazingly low right now, so Hawaii is more affordable than ever.  The free internet, free parking and no resort fees offered at the Makena Beach & Golf Resort is nothing to sneeze at either.  Value and beauty is an enticing combination.  Call 800-733-7471 or visit www.AppointmentWithSheila.com to get started!
