I’m back from Tahiti! We went to four islands and stayed in a variety of accommodations, so I wanted to show you a few my favorite pictures.  At the end, I’ll reveal what I consider a perfect spot for your dream Tahiti vacation, romantic French Polynesian anniversary getaway or romantic honeymoon.

Le Meridien Tahiti Panoramic View Room

Le Meridien Tahiti Panoramic View Room

We had a Panoramic View Room at the Le Meridien Hotel in Tahiti for one night after a late (9:30 PM) arrival. This was the perfect place for a quick stay. When we woke up in the morning, we had a beautiful view of the ocean over the trees.

Le Meridien Artist Studio

Le Meridien Artist Studio

Tahiti is famous for its art. The Le Meridien has an artist’s studio called L’atelier, where guests can take an art lesson with the resident artist. This is a perfect activity for a rainy day.

Kia Ora Villa With Pool

Next, we flew to Rangiroa for two nights. Rangiroa is a very quiet atoll and is a diver’s paradise.  We had an extremely private and luxurious beach villa with it’s own small pool. There was even an outside bathtub.

Kia Ora Infinity Pool

This is the infinity pool at the Kia Ora Resort & Spa. If the winds are slight, at first glance, you can’t even tell where the pool ends and the ocean begins.

Hilton Bora Bora Deluxe Overwater Bungalow

From Rangiroa, it was on to Bora Bora. Everyone has to take a boat to their hotel, because the airport is on its own tiny island. Our destination was the Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa (now the Conrad Bora Bora Nui). We were fortunate to have a Deluxe Overwater Bungalow with an amazing view of the protected waters of the atoll and the crashing waves of the ocean beyond.

Bora Bora Rainbow

We arrived after dark. In the morning we were greeted by this beautiful rainbow.

Moorea Racing Outrigger Canoe

Moorea Racing Outrigger Canoe

Tahitian culture is alive and well in French Polynesia. At every hotel, we saw outrigger canoes going back and forth. Because it’s an island nation, many people still rely on this mode of transportation. They also have racing teams like this one, at the InterContinental Resort & Spa Moorea, that practice for the annual races.

Overlooking the Beautiful Waters of Moorea

On our way to the port for our ferry to Tahiti, we stopped at this beautiful outlook over the Sofitel Moorea Ia Ora Beach Resort. We don’t get enough pictures together on our vacations.

InterContinental Tahiti Bed

We were back on Tahiti, which is the largest of the French Polynesian islands, for our last two nights at the InterContinental Resort Tahiti. We loved the romantic bed in our Panoramic View Room.

We love to explore on our own, when we can, on our vacations. We rented a car on our last day, because we wanted to see where the local people hang out and learn a little about their lifestyle. Here I am swinging on a vine at the Jardin Botanique. It was a Sunday and we saw big crowds of people, mostly families, at the many beach parks around the island. Contrary to what you usually hear, we found the people to be friendly and kind.

The trip is still fresh in our minds, but seeing these pictures again brought happy memories flooding back. One of my fondest memories was in Bora Bora, listening to music in our bungalow and spontaneously dancing together, cheek to cheek. The sweetness of the moment brought tears to our eyes and we were so grateful for that time together. We live such busy lives and our vacations are important times where we escape the day-to-day busyness of life and focus on each other. It’s one of the ways we keep our marriage of almost 27 years alive and going strong!

Now, I promised to reveal my favorite spot from our romantic Tahitian vacation. For me, it was Bora Bora. The loveliness of the Hilton resort and the amazing snorkeling there, combined with the seclusion from other distractions makes the location so unique. We enjoyed the ability to boat over the to main island and see the classic view of Mt. Otemanu. Also, our overwater bungalow with its romantic canopy bed and glass floors revealing the fish swimming underneath, make this a dream Tahiti vacation for me. If you ask my husband, he would say his favorite location was Bora Bora, but his favorite room was the villa with the private pool on Rangiroa. He’s got a point there!
